John's Woodworking

I was recently asked to photograph a woodworking collection by a member at my church. John has been doing woodworking since the early 1980's. His vast collection really showcases his talent!

We decided to do the shoot at his house, with a white backdrop to really show off his creations. Along the way, I got some nice shots of him practicing his craft.

Here is one of my favorites from the session.

Mentoring Sarah

I was asked recently if I would mentor a girl from our church who wants to become a photographer someday.

She has assisted me at a recent shoot, helping to setup, and working with the subjects to explain how to order prints.

Just yesterday, we scoped out a location I have planned for an upcoming engagement shoot. I also took the time to give her a "photography 101" class so to speak, teaching her how to shoot with a DSLR.

She got some good pics of me and her mother and learned a lot in a short amount of time!

Me and My Guy Dance

I was recently asked to shoot a girl scout daddy-daughter dance at New Covenant United Methodist Church.

I decided to offer silhouette shots along with the more traditional photos. I think they came out great!

As always, here is a favorite from the evening.

Julia and Isaac

Beautiful day for a shoot last week, in a perfect setting. Lighting was awesome, coming in behind the subjects just right.

Only downside was injuring my knee at the beginning of the shoot. Luckily, the real loss of mobility was hours away!

Steve and Athena

As always, I love repeat customers. Steve and Athena wanted to work in a cross for their family Christmas card portrait. Confident that there was a cross at my family church, we arrived only to discover that it was only up during the Easter season!

A little research and time later, we finally did get some great shots of the kids in an outdoor setting with a cross. Here's a nice shot of the family at the first location.

Curtis and Mallory

Family portrait sessions are always fun. I love to see the families get dressed up in coordinating outfits, and see how excited they are to get started!

What was going to be a newborn photo shoot became a family shoot for the family of Curtis and Mallory. We got a great fall afternoon with great light for the shoot.

Here's a favorite from the day.

Candace and Tyler

On September 22, 2012 Candace and Tyler were married at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lincolnton, NC. I was especially excited to cover their wedding as this was my biggest wedding to date. That, and we got such great bridal portraits.

The reception was held at a golf club in Marion, NC. It was a real challenge to get good pics there because it was so DARK there, but they came out just fine. Good equipment and knowing how to best use it.

Here's a favorite from the reception. Check out the rest in the gallery.
