In the neighborhood...

Tara and Ben live in my neighborhood, and as it turns out so does her parents! This made for the shortest drive ever to a photo shoot! We had great light and fall colors, and a terrific session.

High School Buddy

Annette, a friend from High School was getting married at the Gaston County Courthouse. Very low key affair, just family. And yours truely! I was invited to capture the morning service. Here's a pic of everyone afterwards. I think they were ready to get started on their beach vacation!

MI5K 2013

Christ United Methodist Church put on the inaugural Mountain Island 5K race on Saturday November 2nd at Coulwood Middle School in Charlotte, NC. I was asked to do the photography for the event. With over 120 people registered, I was very busy getting pictures before the race, and capturing the finishers. A foggy morning made for some interesting early pictures.

Alicia's Bridal Portraits

This was my second bridal portrait session, and my first photo session at Freedom Park. Such as great place for portraits!

Maurice and Cerise's Wedding

Maurice and Cerise were wed in a church that at first glance looked like it has good lighting, but turned out to be a challenge. I'm glad I came to the rehearsal to decide on my camera settings early. Doing my homework paid off, as the ceremony shots turned out just fine.

Their reception was at a hall I had not heard of called, "Extravaganza". Lots of space, high ceiling, and a live D.J. made for a reception to remember.

Frank and Machetta

I had a busy summer, with two weddings only a few weeks apart. The first of these was for Frank and Machetta. They had a small wedding at a beautiful chapel in Matthews, NC, with a reception at the same location. Good light and weather made for a great wedding!

The couple loved the results, and left a glowing review, which you can read on my website.

Bridgett's Family Shoot

I do the recital pictures at Main Street Dance Works. Sometimes a family from the studio will contact me for a shoot. That's how I got in touch with Bridgett. She had lots of extended family in town and wanted to do some family portraits.

They had a great back yard for a shoot. Don't you think??

Ariana at 5 Days Old

Ariana's parents were referred to me from a client I shot an engagement shoot with. They were impressed with my work, and wanted to get some newborn portraits at the studio.

Baby shoots are challenging because you are on the baby's schedule. With some patience, we were able to get some great shots. Here's one of my favorites.

John's Woodworking

I was recently asked to photograph a woodworking collection by a member at my church. John has been doing woodworking since the early 1980's. His vast collection really showcases his talent!

We decided to do the shoot at his house, with a white backdrop to really show off his creations. Along the way, I got some nice shots of him practicing his craft.

Here is one of my favorites from the session.

Mentoring Sarah

I was asked recently if I would mentor a girl from our church who wants to become a photographer someday.

She has assisted me at a recent shoot, helping to setup, and working with the subjects to explain how to order prints.

Just yesterday, we scoped out a location I have planned for an upcoming engagement shoot. I also took the time to give her a "photography 101" class so to speak, teaching her how to shoot with a DSLR.

She got some good pics of me and her mother and learned a lot in a short amount of time!

Me and My Guy Dance

I was recently asked to shoot a girl scout daddy-daughter dance at New Covenant United Methodist Church.

I decided to offer silhouette shots along with the more traditional photos. I think they came out great!

As always, here is a favorite from the evening.
